Abyssinian Owl
The Abyssinain owl is a nocturnal species of long-eared owl that makes its home in the forests of the Ethiopain highlands. It can also be found in Kenya and Zaire.
The Abyssinain owl is a medium sized owl measuring about 15 inches in length with a wingspan of about 40 inches. This owl is brown in color with darker markings all over its body. It has dark brown ear tufts near the center of its forehead and a light brown facial disk.
The diet of the Abyssinain owl consists mostly of small mammals although it will sometimes eat other birds and insects.
The Abyssinain owl makes its nest in the stick nests of larger birds. The female lays 3 to 5 eggs which take 25 to 30 days to hatch.
